A novel reaction - 9/20/2006
It's taken me a few days to fully reflect on my writing group's reaction to my novel. How am I feeling now? Better. There's a little more clarity.

This past weekend, overlooking the Green Bay in Door County, Wis., I wrote three questions about the novel and sat and thought. When I stood up to leave an hour later my questions were still unanswered. I've spent the last two mornings in a similar trance, thinking at my desk rather than writing. It feels good. I make little notes. I reread the comments by group members. I may or may not be making any progress.

What did they say about the novel? They questioned everything from the point of view to the character's age to the focus of the novel and so much more. I am unbelievably fortunate to know these writers and to have them read my work.

There are way more questions at this point than there are answers. I'll let you know when it's otherwise.
